Lord, teach me to be generous, teach me to serve you as you deserve…

from St. Ignatius’ Prayer of Generosity

Volunteering is one thing. Volunteering in New Orleans at this critical time in history is another thing.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network in collaboration with the New Orleans Province and the Wisconsin Province offers the following manual to help address the reality of “volun-tourism” within New Orleans and the Gulf Region.

We hope to best inform students and their families along with professional staffs and their campuses in an effort to help create fertile ground for transformational education.

The handbook is divided into the following five sections:

Section One: What Should I Prepare for?
Section Two: Pre-Katrina Societal Reality
Section Three: Post-Katrina Outlook
Section Four: Reflections and Prayers
Section Five: I’m Back on Campus… What Now?

All sections may be downloaded individually or together.

Please feel free to use any and all of the following information in preparation and execution of your trip to the Gulf Region.

Help to insure that this information is current and up-to-date! Contact Jocelyn A. Sideco, Pastoral Associate for Relief Ministries, New Orleans Province at jesuitkatrinarelief@norprov.org to suggest new and helpful information.

Blessings!
